Hans,

The following is an excerpt from my column "From The Tove's Nest" in the
December 1995 issue of the Compendium:
________
...on a recent trip to Basel, Switzerland, I enjoyed a visit to the Felix
Solis Tempus sundial shop run by NASS member Robert Felix. The shop itself is
in the first floor of a house which dates from the year 1429. Felix has located
sundial suppliers from all over Europe (and North America). His inventory
includes dozens of different sundial offerings which range from small finger
ring dials to large chiseled stone monuments. After a 3 hour visit, I came away
with six new dials: a replica of a 1736 David Beringer cube dial; an equatorial
dial which uses an acrylic prism to focus the sun's rays; a Regiomontanus dial;
a pocket-sized nocturnal; an Oughtred double horizontal dial; and a nocturlabe
complex enough so that its full use will take some time to figure out.

Felix has prepared a catalog displaying 30 of the dials he sells. The catalog
itself unfolds to form a noon mark dial. To obtain a copy, contact Robert Felix
at Felix Solis Tempus, Gerbergasslein 10, CH-4051 Basel, Switzerland (fax +41 61
631 10 34).

And the following is from Sundial Sources in the March 1995 issue of the
Compendium:
_______________
Additional new items of interest include three small altitude dial designs by
NASS member Harris Morrison (205 Wilton St, Burlington Ontario L7N 1V8 Canada).
They include a ring dial, a finger ring dial (reminiscent of
stories of King Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine), and a `gardener's dial', all
determining the time according to the date and the sun's altitude.

A long-time producer of a variety of small dials and astrolabes is Norman
Greene (1215 Fourth St, Berkeley CA 94710). The Greene Workshop's products are
sold in museum shops and by mail. Its more unusual items include the rare
"little ship of Venice" dial, a quadrant, and a cannon dial.
