In Mrs. Alfred Gatty's _The Book of Sundials_, the town of Settle in Yorkshire, UK was said to possess the following landmark back in the eighteenth century:
"A hill called Castleberg, which rises at the back of town, was crowned by a pile of rock which cast a shadow upon large slabs of stone placed at regular intervals and marked with Roman numerals, telling the hour of the day from eight to twelve. These stones have long since disappeared." Does anyone -- particularly the British subscribers to this list -- know if this "natural" sundial has been restored?
