HI All- I know I am not by any means out in the fore front of this group. But let me state my opinion on a new group. I am not happy with the thought of it because with the new technologies (ie:newsgroups/internet) people tend to get to "specialized" and you lose contact with the crossection of experience that makes the world go round. This group has enlightened me on many different subjects that came from a common interest in sundials. The carving thread is a very valuable subject that can be used on anything from sundials to switch plates. If I came up with a new way to cast brass/bronze and started my own news group I think I would be doing a disservice to the other people on the list who may benefit from my knowlege/approach as well as cheating myself of someone elses input. I for one would like to carve some stone as well as build an orrery and don't forget the portable dial I have plans for. I think there are many people on this list who could contribute alot to these projects and that is precisely why we are here. The crossection of knowlege is important to us all. Let's not go the way of the specialty stores.
All this is of course my opinion and welcome any comment or discusion. Best Regards to a great collection of people and wisdom. Henry On 12/05/96 23:13 you wrote: > >Finally does anybody think we should form a newsgroup? > >Mike Koblic, >Quesnel, BC > > >
