Hi all, Here are the answers to Roderick Wall's questions:
> What is the size of the style (gnomon) is it a rod, or a bar and what is > it's thickness and length? I am not sure I know the difference between a rod and a bar (sorry), but the style is a polar-aligned cylinder, about 1.7m long and 3cm in diameter. > Why can't the frame be mounted directly on the wall? I guess it can, and should ideally, but you may not want to take that for granted. The dials will have to be assembled using the pre-measured azimuths of the walls of the chimney. Some adjustment is probably necessary at mount time, and hence the frames may wind up not perfectly parallel with the walls in the end. By the way, this brings me to a related question: how does one accurately measure the azimuth of a wall? > Also what is the longitude and latitude of Ghent (Belgium)? 51.05 deg N 3.7 deg E ... and, of course, often overcast or rainy...
