Dear Friends,

Some time ago I designed and built an instrument that uses a laser beam to
project the lines and curves of a sundial onto any surface - including large
and complex surfaces, and regardless of surface orientation.

The device, which I named the "Laser Trigon", was originally presented at
the first Conference of the North American Sundial Society in April, 1995. A
more complete discussion was published in NASS Compendium 3-2 in June 1996.

The instrument is about to begin its first field trial, and I am going to
try to use my Web pages to document the use of the instrument as it produces
an interesting (or at least amusing) sundial. Over the next few weeks I will
update the page as the work progresses, so you can watch it live. Point
your browser at:

Follow the link to the "Laser Trigon" for information on the instrument
itself, then head for the "Shadow Garden" where the dial is being built.

See you there?
