Carl, allow me to piggy back on your email if I may.

Carl is focusing on actual need from the internet
community, and when we met last winter in New Mexico,
we chatted about what people wanted versus what the
community of diallists want.

For the NASS and BSS to grow, there perhaps needs to
be a focus on what the non members seek, as that is
where all future members come from. For NASS and BSS
to maintain membership however, then member interests
should be a focus. The end result is two divergant
areas of interest.

I have added a page to my website covering 12 months
of actual use of files as well as web pages. I have
tried to make no interpretations, but simply present
percentage data on actual file and page usage by
classification, and I also added some notes of
interest.

If you are interested on what internet users looked at
and downloaded over a 12 month period on my web site,
please go to this web link.

The bulk of hits are referred to me by general google
search engines, then next they come come from this
email list/listserv web site, then next from NASS and
BSS about equally, and then other dial web sites. The
bulk are from a general google search and thus suggest
a wide demographic group.

This is not fuly scientific since not all documents
were available for the entire period, and many other
considerations not evaluated. This is raw data, and
presented for your interest only.
