I still have a problem with the gnomon. This is a rod perpendicular to the wall, and yet it resides on the "winter solstice curve". Where it resides will be an equinox line, not a solstice curve. So, inspired by a vertical great decliner it may be. A vertical decliner it ain't, except possibly for the summer solstice, and the kids will be on vacation at that time anyway.
