The recent death of stained glass artisan, John Hayward is sad news indeed.
I became a big fan of John Hayward after I saw photos of his beautiful
stained glass Sundial at Toller Porcorum Church in Dorset England. He was
one of the very few modern stained glass artisans who has made one.

Our friend Roy Coomber in Bristol, England, reports on the death of
stained glass artist John Hayward. The Spring 2004 issue of Stained
Glass Quarterly has an article I wrote about John which discusses his
stained glass work in England especially the Great West Window at
Sherborne Abbey. He and Doris were very accommodating in providing
information, photos, etc. about John and his work which preceded the
SGAA visit to England where John very kindly met the group at
Sherborne Abbey. He brought along some of his preliminary and
advanced sketches of the west window. He was a wonderful talent, and
I remember John Kebrle and Crosby Willet extolling the virtues of his
designing and painting style at Sherborne.
