Cross posted to HASTRO, Rete and Sundials. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I call your attention to my book, "The Astrolabe" (soft cover, 434 pp., 264
figs.) which is now available. It covers the description, use, theory, history
and design of the planispheric astrolabe, universal astrolabes, related
quadrants and horizontal instruments, astrolabe variations and astrolabe
clocks. The necessary background is included as is practical advice on making
an inexpensive astrolabe reproduction. The table of contents and a sample
chapter are at:

www.astrolabes.org/theastrolabe.htm.

Best regards,

Jim
