Hello Robert,
the beautiful sundial in Englewood is a cylindrical "camera obscura"
sundial ( or pin-hole s.) with a little hole in the center of the ceiling
of the cylindrical room (the entrance of the School) and has a diameter of
1/8" (3mm).
This kind of sundial can work only if the hole diameter is at laest
1/200-1/300 of the distance from it to the wall of the cylinder ( or
smaller), so that the luminous spot is an image of the Sun.
This is not true in Phanteon.
Best
Gianni F.
