Hi Derek:

I'm not an expert on Greek sundials, but over the years, I've tried using
Google to find dials there, without much luck. Either there are not many
Greek dials, or there are not many Greek sundial websites, or both. If this
is true, it's a shame, because with all those white buildings and all that
sunshine, it's an ideal location for painted wall sundials!

My searches seem to indicate that the following website is the best Greek
website on sundials. It has a page with some Greek dials. Most are very
old. Modern Greek sundials seem to be rare. See:
http://www.sundials.gr/index.htm

The phrase for sundials (solar clocks) in Greek is: ηλιακά ρολόγια

Write this down on a piece of paper and take it with you to show to the
locals who might be able to point you to some local dials. And take your
camera! If you find any good ones, let us know!

Have a great trip,

John

Subject: Sundials in Greece

Dear Friends

I am going to visit Greece with my girlfriend in about a month but I just
can't find any info about sundials there. Does anybody know this sunject?
Perhaps there is a kind of register or database on the net?

I hope to find some guidance here.

Best regards
Darek Oczki, Poland
