The idea of personal prime meridians is entertaining but it probably
isn't very practical.
For example, if I discovered some nice island, how could I tell others
where it was. My directions would be worthless to them, unless they
started from where I did.
It reminds me of personal time zones, where each of us has a time zone
specific to our exact location. It's possible with todays
technologies, but how would we ever catch a train for example?
So for universal navigation we would all need to agree on two
particular geostationary satellites. If no suitable satellites exist
maybe we could put into orbit giant mirrors we could all see.
Two giant disco balls!
