Last night I placed my protractor set at 90 degrees on my stick and sighted up it.

It pointed directly at the north star. It was what I expected to find but amazed when it actually worked.

I find it comforting to have something in my backyard that seems nicely aligned with our solar system and the universe.

For my whole life I have seen sunrises and sunsets, summers and winters and looked up at the sun and stars countless times and it looked like nice, but none-the-less, a confusing mess of moving lights.

Now I can grasp it, at least the basics.

I have the feeling that my stick is in balance and harmony with things much, much bigger than myself. I can start to understand why our ancestors gave their sky markers spiritual significance; Stonehenge, Machu Pichu, etc.

I feel like I am properly aligned with the universe now, and that makes me feel good.
