Hello again;

Technology may soon allow us to change the orbit of asteroids.

If that works, why not apply it to other bodies?

When I am in charge of the solar system I might bring Mars closer to us so we can go there on weekends.

I might move the moon closer to the earth to create better surf.

I might straighten up the earths’ orbit so it’s round and take the tilt out of the axis while I’m at it so we don’t have unpredictable weather. Think of all the unfortunate people suffering at the mercy of droughts or floods or typhoons caused by the tilted axis.

This would also clean up the messy sundial situation.
No longer would we need the equation of time as solar time would be clock time. No longer would we need complicated math formula to make an accurate dial.

Maybe a simple north/south gnomon stick set at your co-latitude would create a straight shadow that gets shorter in the morning and longer in the afternoon, day after day.
Just mark off the hours and you are done.
