I know the Eyam dial very well and have a recent jpeg open alongside this 'creation'. Clearly it is the same dial but the multi-arch bridge and the cloudy sky etc. don't appear anywhere on the pure golden stone of the original.

A .png of the contrasting dials on request.

Hi John,
Perhaps this is an artistic Photoshop image. Check the link to Paul Grand's redbubble original image and this other on with a pelican. He says the image is a "French Bridge in Corbiers France"

These days, seeing is not believing. The underlying image of the sundial is clearly for a 1755 sundial at 55°, not Corbiers 43°, an AOC wine region in SW France.

*Subject:* Unique Old British Sundial

While researching painted wall sundials, I came across a unique wonderful very old British painted dial made in 1755.

Britain is NOT known for its painted dials. That honor belongs to the countries of central Europe. Old painted dials are rare everywhere except for the ones made from the fresco technique which withstand the elements better than paint. This dial appears to be painted with oil paints (you can see this from the hairline cracks in the paint). Yet it has managed to survive the centuries.

But it's the artwork which makes this dial stand out. Most British dials are "all business" dials that have little or no artwork on them. That's what makes this dial even more unique. A true master painted this.

I'm very interested if any of you Brits are aware of this dial and if it is in your BSS Sundial Register. Also, do any of you know where it is located currently?
