Dear Friends.

I am about to publish a limited edition of a sundial calendar for year 2013. It
is my third production and it is very exclusive - the number of copies will be
limited. The calendar comes in two language editions (English and Polish). This
year's subject: Sundials made by Tadeusz Przypkowski.

Tadeusz Przypkowski was the greatest sundial authority in Poland of the XXth
century and he himself delineated and made a number of dials both in his home
country and abroad. He also published a number of articles and books on
astronomy, gnomonics and history of science. His father, Felix, started a
sundial collection which later became the third biggest in the world (after
Chicago and Oxford). It is now known as the Przypkowski Museum and it is
located in Jędrzejów, Poland. Tadeusz for his entire life was part of this
project.

Below you will find an introduction note taken from the calendar:

"An unveiling ceremony of a very special sundial took place on 10th October
2012 at the former Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. It was originally
designed in 1968 by Tadeusz Przypkowski (1905-1977) from Jędrzejów, Poland,
which is considered a Mecca of Polish gnomonics, i.e. the art of sundial
making. Unfortunately the original dial was made of wood so it did not last for
many years.

The renewed design was produced by Christopher Daniel of the British Sundial
Society, and another member, Ben Jones, carved the new dial in green slate. In
this way sundial enthusiasts of UK saluted a memory of a great doyen of
dialling.

Those events inspired this presentation of the best sundials bearing the mark
of Tadeusz Przypkowski. His first dials were created before WWII and though
only some of them survived to our times, they still surprise and delight us
with their beauty, dignity and the excellence of the author."
