I have been fascinated to follow the discussion generated by Willy's note. But I have also been a bit worried.
Last November I developed a design for a new type of Sundial, based on a theorem I had proved by both analytic and geometric means. The theorem is not the same as the one which has been under discussion here, but it is clear to me that a proof of one could easily be modified to give a proof of the other. I have prepared a talk to present this theorem and Sundial at the NASS conference in August - hopeful that it will not be pre-empted by the coincidence of this discussion!
