Hi all, I wrote to the University of Basel about the orientation of the photo. I get this replay.
ciao Fabio Fabio Savian [email protected] Paderno Dugnano, Milano, Italy 45° 34' 10'' N, 9° 10' 9'' E, GMT+1 (DST +2) From: Susanne Bickel Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2013 8:30 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Egyptian sundial Dear Mr. Savian, Thank you very much for your message and remark concerning the photo of the Egyptian sundial recently discovered at the Valley of the Kings. You are absolutely right, and an astronomer from our university also pointed out to me that it would be better to turn the picture so that the hole and the horizontal line be above. We must have looked at the piece too much as an archaeological object and not jet enough as a real sundial which of course was used vertically and exposed straight south. I will ask that the picture be turned on our website (http://aegyptologie.unibas.ch/forschung/projekte/university-of-basel-kings-valley-project/) and in the picture database of our university. with best regards Susanne Bickel Prof. Dr. Susanne Bickel Universität Basel Departement Altertumswissenschaften Ägyptologie Petersgraben 51 CH-4051 Basel
