This is a horizontal dial. Looks like Mt Vernon still sells a similar dial but

I have no illusions regarding its accuracy, it is after all primarily meant as
a decorative replica. But I live in New Jersey, so we are at a similar
longitude as its original site in Mt Vernon. I don't have the dial in front of
me at the moment but the gnomon seemed to be set for about 40 to 41 degrees,
which will be good for my latitude (40d55')
Thanks for the EOT table idea.

Subject: Re:
Some initial questions might be....
what was the design latitudewhat was the design longitudeis the dial plate
actually correct (hour line angles, style angular height)
assuming the dial itself is accurate for a specific latitude, then you may
decide the dial should be tilted such that the gnomon's style is at latitude
which corrects for the latitude difference
for longitude there are a couple of ideas, the simplest may be to produce an
EOT table with the longitude correction built in. My main spreadsheet
"illustratingShadows.xls" provides a longitude corrected EOT table, and is free.
there will be other suggestions also from the group, I imagine. And, welcome
back to the group, also.
