Hi Dan, I have a metal dibber – a garden tool for making holes in the ground mainly for planting leeks – the cone at the end is 12cm long x 3cm wide at the base. If this is the sort of size, then have a look round a garden store.

Most metals shrink on cooling so the patterns should be increased slightly: 1/60 (brass and aluminium) 1/75 (bronze). Pattern makers use special rulers graduated to allow for this which cause havoc if allowed to 'escape' into a general workshop. How do I know this??? :-( Tony Moss ----Original Message---- From: [email protected] Date: 15/08/2015 18:40 To: "Dan Uza"<[email protected]>, "sundial list"<[email protected]> Subj: RE: Metal cone Hi Dan, you didn't say how big you were looking for. For small sundials you can use the cone used for jewelry display to hold rings and bracelets. They are even available in clear plastic. sasch stephens _____ Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2015 21:16:41 +0300 Subject: Metal cone From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hello all ! Any idea how much a metal cone would cost and where to buy it online? The kind you can use as gnomon - Ebay has loads of punk spikes on offer, but they are too small. Thanks!
