The reader isn't supposed to be this sensitive, I think it's broken. If you got this one from Sun then you should be able to get it exchanged under warranty, as long as you don't tell them you opened it up. If you're just experimenting then you can often find a few units on Ebay, that's usually much cheaper than buying a brand new unit.
It was a refurbished unit we buy from a Swedish company which clame it have never been used, but I don't trust them ;-)
According to sunsolve.sun.com the warranty is five years on the Sun Ray 1 unit so the warranty should still be valid but I don't now how Sun react if you buy stuff 2:nd hand...
Still the unit is function 100% beside the bad card reader so I can use it to drive a second monitor in multihead setup instead if sun won't replay the unit.
