It's not only a problem with the utseriald and utparalleld. If they do not work you will not be able to use any serial or parallel devices connected to your sunrays. But there are more troubles on SuSE9.2. Something goes very wrong with other deamons too. The whole thing is very problematic. I wasn't able to find out what's going wrong. Strace and other tools didn't help. Perhaps you have more luck?!?
