I had problems getting the Gnome sound daemon "esd" running with SRSS on Debian Linux. Perhaps this can help someone.
If you get this starting esd: #esd - using device /tmp/SUNWut/dev/utaudio/utdsp-0 ALSA lib pcm.c:2068:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM /tmp/SUNWut/dev/utaudio/utdsp-0 then remove the libesd-alsa0 package and install libesd0. After that, mkdir /tmp/.esd is neccessary. Now Gnome sound works fine, only the gnome volume control applet does not work, it finds no mixer device. Any ideas?
