Status report: Brought the Sunray with new firmware back home, and it connected immediately. No problems. I used an Apple Keyboard on it initially, and got a completely fucked up keymap, but changing to a Logitech one solved this problem also :)

So, with the old firmware, remote connection wouldn't work, even though localnet connection worked fine. Thank you for all the great help!

Btw: I think the screenupdate performance was a bit sluggish compared to running Windows Terminal Service client on my windows machine. Is this due to the Sunray's framebuffer being old/slow, or is it the protocol's "fault"? Will the Sunray 1g be any faster?

Can it be that since I have an old Firmware, I can only connect from the local subnet and not remotely? Is it possible to manually force the firmware update onto this old sunray when connected to my home-lan?

It might be possible, but if firmware downloads don't work when the
Sun Ray is directly connected to the server then they aren't going
to work for a remote Sun Ray either. Get the directly-connected
case working before you try to get the remote case working.

Also, when I had it connected on the local subnet, I got my correct locale (Norwegian) but the keyboard was still default english - when logging in on the SunFire server on the console, I get the norwegian keyboard. Why doesn't the Sun Ray server honor this setting, and how can I change it?

What kind of keyboard are you using on the Sun Ray? Is it a Sun keyboard with Norwegian layout? If not then start by reading
