2.6 support and x86_64 support are key for us here. I actually have a dual 64bit box here to support SRSS3, but have the 32bit OS loaded.

Having a more up-to-date GUI engine (GDM) would be good to, so that new releases of the packages (Gnome) can be installed without worrying about breaking the SunRays, as previously pointed out.

We are moving more to the linux environment because of pricing. The commodity hardware is cheap and so is the OS. The OS has all the necessary functions and a vibrant application and tool set, which is easy to aquire and install, quite often works as well as commercial equivalents.

NFS works well for us, tho I'd like to hear about any problem anyone has had (off-list). I've not tried NFSv4 yet, but believe that it would not be best to put any further effort into NFSv3 support.

It kind of sucks that we won't see the mass storage and associated devices on Linux based SRSS 3.x+, I was hoping that this version did just that. So the big question becomes when is 2.6 based SRSS software coming out.

Things that would be nice to see in SRSS 3.x + would be to
have the ability to use the USB with USB Pens, Printers, external
hdds, whatever USB items we can lay our hands on for which Linux
has a driver. I had to tell my director well you can attach your
external hdd on a Solaris based SR server but not on a Linux one.
Correct me if I am wrong on this. He wasn't extremely impressed.

USB support with Linux is due to arrive with SRSS 3.1 I believe.
It will match what you can currently do with Solaris.

SRSS 3.1 adds libusb support on Linux.

SRSS 3.1 does not include USB Mass Storage support on Linux. Mass
Storage won't work until SRSS runs on 2.6 kernels, the 2.4 architecure
in this area is just too weak.
