Quite right you are, they are servers with gobs of disk ! I guess I
should have said NFS appliances.
Well they even run UNIX (or at least they used to...haven't seen a
recent one)...just with a nicely-tuned filesystem and very good utilities.
Linux' NFS issues have traditionally centered around interoperability
and performance in mixed environments.
Okay, seems like I should do some googling on this.
If you're primarily a Linux shop, I wouldn't worry too much about
it...but if you're running in a mixed environment, just watch your step.
I've had lots of issues with this in the past.
