I am using VLC on with my SunRay's also. I also had tried to compile it myself,
but ended up having problems getting all of the codec's and libraries necessary
to compile.
I thought that I had pulled down a precompiled package for Solaris from the
videolan.org site, but following up today, I don't see it either. A yahoo
search turned up precompiled packages here:
http://www.blastwave.org/packages.php
but they were not the ones I used.

I believe that www.videolan.org has a Solaris version for vlc. Check
that out. I find that USB mass storage and running on Linux 64bit is the
features I would like to see implemented hopefully in the next version.

I have tried to compile vlc with very little success on solaris.
Is anyone working on a media player that will run on solaris and play
the most recent codecs?
