I have not come across any smartcard issues during my testing. They seemed to have worked with no extra configuration. > - some sunrays are not always getting a login (stop at 26D) when no > smartcard in Try 'rebooting' the SunRay (CTRL+"Moon") to see if it can get a login screen. If any changes are made to the SunRay configuration, I have found that following these steps are the best way to reload SRSS: sudo /etc/init.d/zsunray-init stop sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start sudo /etc/init.d/zsunray-init start Remember to perform these either remotely (via SSH) or from a text-based console. > - some keyboard issues (eg right shift not working. shift+props not > working, in gnome keyboard shortcuts ALT is actually MOD4) Please refer to the Sun Keyboard Support section of the wiki. The steps are designed for Sun Type6 USB keyboards. When you originally followed my guide, the keyboard section may not have been there as it was the last section I had created. > - the keyboard on the server does not work in gdm, the server terminal > starts into gdm but should not, if I exit gdm on the server then no > sunray gets a login prompt. If you exit gdm, you are shutting down gdm for all users, including the new SunRay sessions. Best practice here is to go to the text console via CTRL+ALT+1. > - in the web based admin Admin/Policy has problems: > "Change Policy localhost > > Internal Error > > Check messages file for additional information." > > But I can't find anything in the messages files The web-based admin section may require some extra configuration on your side. I have only provided a sample httpd.conf if you are not using the Apache Web Server for anything else on the SunRay server. Perhaps investigating the permissions on the CGI scripts directory that SunRay uses might help. > It would be lovely to have a srss uninstall so that I could reset ubuntu > back and then run through the install again. /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utinstall -u may be the command you are looking for here. My advice is to perform a fresh install of Ubuntu, then follow the guide again if you are after a fresh start. > I wonder if some issues relate to keeping old home directories and > therefore old configuration files for users. I do not think home directories have any effect on SunRay (perhaps a stray .xmodmap or something similar) because I automount user's home directories onto the new Ubuntu machine. > Thanks for all your work on this. > > Dave All the best. -- Regards, Naaman Campbell Graduate IT Officer Teys Bros
