Ralf,

I have recently attempted to configure a dedicated interconnect
interface using Ubuntu with no luck. After labouriously tracking back
through the utadm & utfwadm scripts, I have found that the issue relates
to how the scripts setup the /etc/opt/SUNWut/net/dhcp directory files.

These files are not present as a result of not being able to find extra
files and the best solution is to provide an "ubuntu" patch instead of
the "debian" patch that I have mentioned for use. In short, the utadm
script (amongst others) needs serious re-working to properly establish a
working SRSS setup. Given the complexity of the SRSS setup scripts, the
time needed to "ubunturise" them will be wasted as I feel that a new
SRSS version would be released by then. Perhaps *SUN* could look at
officially supporting Ubuntu in the next release -> ask me for plenty of
reasons why.. :)

Although the dedicated interconnect appears to be a dead end,
configuring SRSS over a LAN interconnect does work, to the best of my
knowledge. I have performed numerous installations using LAN
interconnects and have received a plethora of positive feedback from
other people performing LAN interconnect installs.

Try Ubuntu again from scratch and follow the instructions in the wiki -
http://wiki.edubuntu.org/UbuntuOnSunRay (it looks better there). IMO,
Ubuntu is the best choice for a desktop operating system.
