I know everyone here says "blastwave this" and "blastwave that", but I frankly want to avoid Blastwave at all costs.
i'm partial because i'm a maintainer, hehehe. i used to compile everything self until i came across blastwave. they have all the packages i need and if they don't i'll build it and distribute it via the project.
My biggest complaint against KDE these days is that it requires far too many source patches to build on Solaris, and those patches have not been rolled into the baseline. Once upon a time, I actually was able to compile my own KDE from source successfully.
you'll find that this is only the case when you compile with the SUN compiler, it builds fine with GCC if i'm not mistaken.
