Are there any messages in /var/opt/SUNWut/log ?
Did you run utconfig before you installed/configured the xserver? If so, 
try running unconfiguring (utconfig -) and re-configuring (utconfig).

Great!. I'm glad that it worked... You also probably noted my typo up above for unconfigure... should be "utconfig -u" not "utconfig -"
