Hi David
Let me check with the chap that wrote them and see what he has now -
when I pinged him to ask if it was ok to post them he suggested I wait
for a bit as he was improving them a little. I confess I didn't follow
it up after that.

I've seen some scripts internally at Sun that use Nautilus and
Gnome to allow a user to see the contents of their usb
sticks. Doesn't use KDE but I'm sure something similar could be
done if the scripts are adapted.
I can't see any reason why the scripts shouldn't be shared with
the list, but let me check. I'll post later this week if I get the
'ok' to do so.
I'd be thrilled to see these scripts, but as far as I can tell there
was no followup. Presumably, it takes some effort to implement this
correctly and smoothly for users. We run Solaris/x86 with srss 3.1
and JDS.
I see that U Delaware has written tools to do:
Applications > System Tools > mount USB Mass Storage Device
Applications > System Tools > unmount USB Mass Storage Device
for Sun Rays, described on
http://www.udel.edu/topics/os/unix/sunray/aboutGnome.html
This isn't completely automatic, but would help. I wrote to them, but
did not receive a reply.
