It would be also good to note that if your home router cannot be
configured to give the Option 49 parameter to DHCP clients, that using
the DNS name configuration option could also be done.
In fact DNS is much preferable, since the firmware can also be managed
via DNS, whereas with DHCP option 49 this is not possible - firmware must
be managed manually (e.g. via utfwload).

DTU's with 3.1 firmware ore capable of using DNS and TFTP to configure
themselves.
Basically the DTU's will look up sunray-config-servers in in the
domain name which they are given by your router. They will then TFTP
their respective parms file. This parms file contains the server(s) to
connect to.
See the manpage for utfwadm or the admin guide for more details.

utfwload will report the firmware in your unit,
as will 'utquery -d <Sun Ray IP>' (this will also report
where your unit got its boot information).
utfwload can be used to upgrade firmware if desired.

Hi,
I'm busy to set up a Sunray client @ home.
My DHCP server give a x-display-manager attribute when the client
boots but nothing else...
I just read this comment:
(URL: http://www.sun.com/blueprints/0204/817-5490.pdf)
"DHCP option 49, the standard option of the X Window Display
Manager, identifies
130.146.59.5 as the address of a Sun Ray server. In the absence of
AltAuth and
Auth-Srvr vendor-specific options, the DTU tries to find a Sun Ray
server by
broadcasting on the local subnet. If the broadcasts evoke no
response, the DTU uses
the address supplied in t option of the X Window Display
Manager.provided that the
DTU contains firmware at Sun Ray Server Software 2.0 patch level
114880-01 or
greater."
How can I check my firmware release on the client? and upgrade if
necessary...
Thanks,
Xavier
