Hi Fitra

A common question!

Basically HP's numbers are nonsense and do not represent a good example 'real world' office workload.

On the Sun Ray side my experience shows that you can have around 35 concurrent users per core if all they are running is a Terminal Services or Citrix client.

If users are running a Solaris or Linux desktop I see between 10 and 15 concurrent users per core.

On the Windows side I see between 10 and 20 users per core at my customers.

As always these numbers can go up and down, but those are the rules of thumb that I use when doing budgetary sizing before a pilot.

Guys,
Need your opinion about sizing Sunray Server with CAM using Windows Connector. Also sizing for Terminal Services.

I have very strange calculation right now. Sun Ray Server (2 CPU 8 GB) can handle 40 concurent user (Sun Documentation), but in Other hand Terminal Service (2 CPU 8 GB) can handle 200 concurent user (HP - Microsoft Documentation). I know there is something wrong about this calculation but I can not find any document to prove.

Based on any experience, how should it be since it would be very strange that sun ray server need bigger machine than the processing unit (Terminal Service). I prefer to use Opteron based server sizing for sunray server and terminal service since I have to compete to $600 PC.

Thanks in advanced,
Fitra
