I wanted to update everyone on what we have found out here.
It turns out this was not a sunray issue, but a java problem.
Java was crashing when trying to call getmnttabent().
Because we are running Sol9 this function has changed to do a system
kernel call instead of an fopen of the /etc/mnttab file.
Our automount map files is quite large with direct maps (over 4500)
that is causes a buffer overflow, causing java to crash.
Sun has provided a patch that seems to fix the problem and should
hopefully be out in a formal patch soon. The patch appears to be a
libc replacement.
Note, the problem exists if you have Sol9, Direct maps and a list
greater than about 4000 lines.
Thanks,
-Steve

Sorry Steve but you're into a javaland problem at this
point, and we don't have any java experts on this alias
(to my knowlege, anyway).
Heh ;-) yea, I did find that it looks like a post-install patch is
the cause.
I am trying to hunt down the right one.
Maybe sun will find it as well when they get back to my ticket.
