And of course we've known about the risks. We run on Sun Ray 1's here, and when this cheap deal came on, to be shipped from the USA to waaay over here we knew we took a risk (actually 2 out of 10 in that order were busted and we still had a very good deal for something that's considered cosmetic enhancement here), though I wouldn't have expected this one.

Thanks for the explanation though, I was wondering why someone would do stuff like this to a Sun Ray :-)
We do have hardware support on the SR1's, but we've never had to use it since we took 'em in 2002 ;-)
It's too bad though we won't be capable of upgrading the firmware of the 170's, because now we'll probably end up moving those to the workplaces that don't need the upgrades per se , or use 'em as info-terminals or something in the waiting lounge, and buying some new 270's LOL
