I have submitted service request 37680682 at your request.
We would like Sunrays to work correctly behind NAT with the exeption of
usb support.
This is about having mutiple Sun Rays behind a single NAT,
where the NAT box makes all of the Sun Rays appear to
be sharing a single IP address, correct?
Yes
And you're already
using 'utsessiond -t' but the Sun Rays still keep restarting
themselves from time to time for no apparent reason?
Yes, although at other locations the restarting is not an issue.
So maybe this behavior is caused by the network in between.
Up and down stream audio will be needed.
Doesn't that work already? (Aside from the restarts, of course.)
Yes, basically it works (not sure about upstream audio though).
But yoe mentioned that SRSS is not build for it and that some parts of
it might function in an undefined way.
Also the "double mapping" error message in the messages file is worrying
to me.
So, before I am going to develop a business case on this setup I sure
would like to know if Sun will be able to support it.
Or if Sun is working on alternative ways to provide this functionality
at equal costs.
Do you need multihead too?
No
You say you don't need USB. I hope that means that you don't
need serial ports or application access to smartcards either. Those
are managed the same way as USB devices. Getting any of them
working will probably be a lot more complicated than getting screen
painting and audio to work dependably.
No USB and Serial Needed.
By smartcard access you probably mean PKI like usage.
No PKI is needed, we do need the hotdesking but that works fine already.
I hope you can make this work.
Technically it's all doable but I have no control over when it will
happen. However, it's far more likely to happen now that you've
opened a case, which should lead to an RFE being filed, than it
was with no RFE in existence.
Yes, that was my intention.
But because I am developing a business case with a partner company I
would like to see some roadmaps if possible.
I also offered to visit Menlo Park on the 16 oktober to talk about the
issues but some how this seems to be hard to arrange by Sun.
Kind regards,
Ivar
