That's a different bug - 6413607. It will be
fixed in our next patch, which I believe should be
out in a couple of weeks.
6413607 ("utdevctl fails on new firmware") is fixed in the -04 3.1 patch,
which is already released. 6412036 ("utsettings can fail when run
against some Sun Ray 2 firmware builds") has the same cause and is
also fixed in the -04 3.1 patch.
6384744 is just a presentation bug in utset. It should ignore the
0x8000 bit of the mic gain value when it prints the value. It should
have nothing to do with any failure to capture or play back audio.
If you have -04 installed then utsettings should show correct values
and its volume slider should move when you use the keyboard volume
keys. If that's working then I'd try plugging in the headphone and
microphone -- into the correct holes, mic at the bottom and headphones
just above it on the SR2, the hole above that is Line In -- then set the
Balance slider to the middle, make sure Mute is off, make sure that
Input Select says Microphone and then run
'cat <$AUDIODEV >$AUDIODEV' in a shell window. You can then
play with the volume and mic gain settings while talking into the mic. If
you still don't hear anything then turn off Auto Output Select and select
both Speaker and Headphone.
