All,
Any plans on migrating SunRay Xsun instances to Xorg?
We really can't talk about future plans on a
public alias, but it's probably safe to observe that we
try to follow Solaris's lead wherever possible and
provide as seamless an experience as we can.
Do you have some reason/requirement
for doing this?
A Solaris Nevada console uses Xorg,
This is configurable, but the default is Xorg.
however all SunRay
instances utilize Xsun.
This is harmless, and works fine. This is also
the current situation with Solaris 10 x86 and SRSS 3.1.

Any word on sharing memory between Gnome Applets
and/or Users? After ThinMan's suggestions
("http://blogs.sun.com/ThinGuy/entry/putting_gnome_on_atkins"),
each user has resident memory usage of the following:
28-80MB for Xsun
21MB for gnome-session
20MB for gnome-panel
19MB for nautilus
15MB for metacity
14MB for wnck-applet
13MB for mixer_applet2
12MB for clock-applet
11MB for gnome-settings-daemon
10MB for notification-area-applet
8MB for gconfd-2
6MB for at-spi-registryd
5MB for gnome-vfs-daemon
4MB for bonobo-activation-server
4MB for gnome-smproxy
====
165-217MB Resident Memory Use / User.
Any further suggestions or work in progress for some type of
resident memory use reductions?
Thanks,
Joel.
