Is there a software client to emulate SunRays from an x86 platform?
I don't think there is at present.
You might consider instead running something like NX (http://ww.nomachines.com) in parallel with SRSS.
So you use a SR for DTU access, then a NX client from a non DTU access. ie a laptop or fat client. You'll probably lose the persistent desktop across SRSS and NX, and the smartcard access might be tricky. However it should work.

Maybe as a standalone OS, or as a package like rdesktop?
