The Win 2k server was getting hacked around by the students
The Hacks usually revolve around RPC, but as some of the CD's require
write access to the file systems there is lots of scope there as well.
This was what caused the last hack. I can almost eliminate both these
problems in W2K3.
Terminal Services is configured with an anonymous account / no
desktop and a default "Nothing" screen etc. The apps are started from
a web page and a .rdp script on the Terminal server.
This all works fine on Windows (even Mozilla on windows with an added
File Handler) but zero joy on the Sunrays (Locked down or otherwise).
We're going to need better information here. What does "zero joy"
really mean?
From a Windows based machine everything works as I'd expect. The user
connects to the TS, the session is fired up and the correct application
is started and delivered to the user from the parameters in the .rdp
file.
I can connect to the Terminal server from the Sunrays with uttsc and
fire up the application on the command line. Everything works from the
command line.
What I can't manage to get working is firing up the connection from the
web links we provide the students.
I have had the .rdp script displaying in the Browser so added a startup
script to fire up uttsc. I have added a new File Handler for .rdp in
Mozilla and on the TS which then asks you to download the rdp file
(rather than execute it).
I have not yet got the uttsc to connect to the TS.
Thanks
