This is on Solaris 10.
If the network printer is on LAN A, how will SRSS server in LAN B print to LAN A? This means the printer would need a routable IP address, right?

Basically, the process is to setup a print queue on SRSS and have it print to a network printer over a routable IP address? (standard unix printing, no sunray specifics)

Will direct printing work if DTU 1 has the printer and DTU 2 tries to print it in LAN A?

Thanks.

You can do network printing or direct printing. If direct attached, it can be a USB printer or a parallel printer using a usb to parallel cable (careful to use the ones that we have qualified which can be found here: http://www.sun.com/io_technologies/sunray.html )

Postscript printers are usually the easiest to do from a Solaris perspective, but Solaris 10 makes non-post script printers much easier than it used to be. Network printers are also easier to manage than direct attached printers.

What OS will you be printing from?

What are some options for how to setup printing for this environment? Can you guys point me to some HOWTOs on this, if there are any.

Can any printer work or does it need to be a USB printer attached to a DTU?
