First, I recommend using the final release of SRSS instead of beta, if that's what you're using.

A common reason for the "Cannot allcate memory" message to appear is if there are too many stale mount points when you're running in debug mode. The final release of SRSS has debug turned off by default.

To avoid stale mount points, remember to run 'utdiskadm -r' before unplugging the device.

Subject: [SunRay-Users] usb not working sometimes
Date: Thu, 28 Dec 2006 17:03:11 -0300

Hi,

I was having some problems while connecting a usb pendrive to a SunRay1 (rhel4 x86_64) that i know that was working before, utdiskadm -l showed nothing so i checked the utstorage log and it showed me this

disk_test_ready: cdb=807afb8, rqbuf=807b958, ret=2
uts_prepare_media tur=2
uts_prepare_media: hotplug
2006.12.28 16:40:58.834400 CLST new media status /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.0003ba2a533b/devices/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/KingstonDataTraveler_II_, lun=0
hotplug: Cannot allocate memory
prepare media failed
uts_free_lun num=0, flags=0
uts_free_lun: locking
uts_free_lun: locked
uts_free_lun: lun=f432b008, prev=0, next=0, list=0, num=0
uts_free_lun: unlocked
LUN thread exiting
Before sending this email i tried again, and the pendrive was recognized without problems, any idea of what's going on ?

cheers,
Cristian
