ShoutCast streams MP3's or whichever sound format right onto the desktops.
If you're using an CDE or Java Desktop or Linux equivalent there should be
no problem hooking in an audio player to your audio stream just like a
regular desktop.
If your using Windows Terminal Services of course it becomes a different
matter.
For sound to be played, you will at least need Windows 2003. 2k and NT4
don't support sound direction.
Besides that of course the sound redirection has to be enabled in the
policies and the client needs the right switches (-r sound:{your_choice})
with both RDesktop and Sun Ray Windows Connector).
Also I'd recommend using low-quality sound (-r sound:low), because,
depending on the number of students, high quality sound will cause your
sysadmin quite some headaches due to processing overhead, I can promise you
that ;-)

Does anyone have any experience with the use of ShoutCast with a SunRay
appliance.
I give lectures using my SunRay terminal and my students are able to
remotely view my desktop but the supplementation of sound would be a
benefit.
Any thoughts/direction?
Thanks in advance.
