Hi Mohamed,
Let's keep this conversation on the alias, so that
other experts can have a chance to pitch in if
they detect something. I have trimmed off the
utcapture output because it was large and I don't
want to flood the list unnecessarily - I didn't
find anything significant in it wrt the DTUs you
list (I basically just ran sort +5n and sort +6n
on the output to find the highest packet loss and
latency and noted the DTUs).
Can I assume that the utcapture output you sent
was taken during the time the Sun Rays you list
exhibited the problem you describe?
You don't have significant packet loss (max was
about 10% briefly but not for any of the DTUs you
list), but you do have extraordinarily high
latency at times for a few Sun Rays:
0003ba8ba735
0003ba8ba74d
0003ba5b590f
0003ba5b590a
These four DTUs have orders of magnitude higher
latency than the others (sometimes greater than a
second). Also curious - I don't see any similarly
high latencies for your -02 server, only the -01
server. But these DTUs are not in your list of
affected units so none of this may be relevant -
just curious and something to investigate to see
if it indicates any underlying network issues.
Your problem description is different now from
what you reported earlier - you never reported
loss of keyboard or mouse function before. Is
this new? This could be a different problem.
Make sure you're running the very latest firmware
patches on all your DTUs. Be sure to check the
ones you list below particularly with utwho -c.
Upon reconnecting to the Windows environment, does
the keyboard/mouse resume normal function?
Do they have to create a new Windows login
session, or can they connect to their old/existing
session?

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your reply.
Yesterday on 5th June 2007, the problem comes back. Four of the SR170
users were disconnect from their Windows environment. All the SR1g,
SR150 and SR170 are connected to Cisco 4507 - 10/100/1000 POE blade.
Problem Description:
-----------------------------
SunRay 170 users successfully login to their Windows environment
through Citrix and doing their routine work( MS Word, Excel and IE ).
After few minutes, four (4) of SR170 users desktop hang( cannot type
keyboard and mouse ) and they have been kicked out of Windows
environment and have to re-login from Solaris.
Here are the steps when users login to Windows Environment:
1) Insert smart card.
2) At dtlogin, user type their username and password.
3) Next, reads the user home directory .profile. In the .profile there
is a line executing /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfica
4) Now, user have to enter their Windows username and password.
5) User does their routine work by accessing MS work, Excel, IE and
etc.. After few minutes, their session hang( cannot type keyboard and
click mouse ) and their session kicked out.
6) User have to re-enter their dtlogin username and password.
Details of the affected users:
--------------------------------------
1) User Name: ceabidih
MAC: 0003bacccf3c
2) User Name: sphudzim
MAC: 0003baccdab0
3) User Name: psnoryoui
MAC: 0003bacccf42
4) User Name: pskamish
MAC: 0003baccd404
5) MAC: 0003BACCCEE6
Attached is the upcapture output file from sunray-01 and sunray-02
server.
Kindly let me know if you need more information.
I thank you in advance for your kind help.

As was stated earlier, this is most like a problem with your network.
Try running utcapture and seeing what it reports for packet loss...

Hi Ben and David
Here we are having a similar problem.
We had setup 2x SFV240 with Solaris 9, SRSS 3.1, patch 120879-05 and
configured failover group. Our SunRay clients consist of SR150,
SR170, SR1g and tadpole. All of the SR clients firmware were updated
to version 3.1. The SunRay clients were connected to Cisco Core SW
4507 - 10/100/1000 module.
Few months back, all of sudden, all of our SR170 were having
disconnected and reconnected randomly( occasionally ). After their
SR170 reconnected user have to retype username / password and they
got sessions back. But only three(3) SR170 were in severe problem
which is continuously disconnect and reconnect and all over again.
Any idea what is happening in our environment ?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all,
For one of the setups I made in the past months, the client seems to
experience a strange problem. The setup is made with a Sun Fire V240,
Solaris 10 11/06 with latests patches, SRSS 3.1 + uttsc 1.1 with
latests
patches (the firmware of the DTUs has been upgraded recently as
well). DTUs
used are all SunRay 2 and SunRay 2FS.
Without any apparent reason, randomly, one DTU at a time, the
session is
lost on the DTU, and then it come back. User have to put back his
login /
password for logging in Windows environment, and he can go back to the
previously opened applications. When it happens to a DTU, others are
working properly without any problem, and nothing is done at the
time on the
SunRay server.
I never saw this before, nor with SunRay 1, 1G, 2 or 2FS...
Actually, I
suspect this might be a network related problem. The network on the
client's side seem to be not that good, but is there a way I could
verify
it? Is anyone has experienced something like that before? Any clues?
Thanks in advance!

Ben,
I concur that it sounds like a network issue. I have had this
happen when
there is a high latency and packet loss. Run the command
/opt/SUNWut/sbin/utcapture and you will be able to see if this is your
problem. Are you running a shared or dedicated enviroment? Dedicated
networks or vlans are allway better to isolate your DTU's from WAN
traffic.
Good Luck
