Hey Otto,

I logged a support call on this issue, because I am out of ideas. This may not change anything, but just to let you know, when I was doing more information gathering I was wrong on a couple things. What is happening is slightly different than what my Sun Rays here do. On site, the Sun Rays start up in 1280x1024. After the session is negotiated, the Sun Rays completely ignore the resolution set with utxconfig, and I've tried all the standard ones. Though utresadm methods work.

There wouldn't be an issue if everyone just ran the native resolution of the display. But the majority of the users have xterm sessions that need to be 80x25. Their app is really picky about the xterm fonts and sizes we can use. So it's really tough to do this in 1280x1024.

Playing with utsettings doesn't really help either. I noticed all it does is set the resolution the same way utresadm does, and it's bound to CID and logical token. So whenever a user switches to a new DTU, the resolution would have to be set again.

All the units there have that firmware too, I double checked 8 of them. But they do load the firmwares automatically via DHCP option.

Also even with the latest firmware, when the unit is first turned on, the display is in [EMAIL PROTECTED]

What firmware versions are running in these units?

The Sun Ray firmware used to have problems parsing
version 3 EDID blocks, mostly because we hadn't been
able to exercise that code until V3 EDID starting being
advertised by newish flat panel monitors, so if these
units have old firmware that might explain this
behaviour. That bug was fixed over a year ago so any
firmware released since last August or thereabouts
shouldn't have that problem.
