Dear @ll,

after a lot of searching for solutions with google without success, I will ask here for help. Maybe you know more.

I manage a Debian linux box, which provides a normal office enviroment (KDE) to our users. The users are connected via SunRay terminals. The SunRay terminals are connected to a Solaris machine on which the SunRay server software is running. The Debian machine and the SunRay Server are speaking X11 with each other.

User -> SunRayTerminal -> SunRayServer -> X11 -> DebianMachine

In the past the Debian machine was running with Debian Woody. But now we updated the system to Debian Etch. Since the update we have the problem, that it is not possible to connect to the Debian machine using the machine chooser dialog.

But it is possible to connect, if you enter the machinename directly. But this is not a suitable solution, because it is to uncomfortable for our users.

Im not the admin of the SunRay Server, and I don't have an administrative account on this machine. But the admin of this machine told me that he didn't changed anything. He said he has SunRay Server Version 3.1 running on his machine.

Now it is fact, that the X11 implementation on my Debian box has changed. From an old XFree86 to the new X.org 7.1. So my question is, if there is any kind of incompatibility. Or any special configuration option which may be necessary, now. I will add the configfiles to this mail.

I'm very sure that the configuration of our X-Server and of the kdm are ok. The config was reviewed by 3 or 4 persons until now. And connection from a Linux X11 terminal is working fine. Xdmcp is activated and should be working.

We also tried it also with Ubuntu Edgy Eft. But we had the same result.

Any ideas?

Best Regards
  Sascha
