Hi Again..

Just another question, again about VMWare, I know this is kind of
'Off-Topic' but I was hoping that someone might be able to help...

I have 32 HP ProLiant Blades and I'm looking into upgrading our
infrastructure to a fully virtualized infrastructure using VMWare VI3...
The issue is the the quotes I have for a single blade (with 2 CPU Sockets)
is ~£1500 GBP... O.K. I thought if I am going to order a few more then maybe
I could get a price break.. So I asked a few of my suppliers to see if there
was any price break levels, or maybe a site licence or something of that
nature..
And all of them came back and said the same thing... VMWare will only offer
the 2 Socket Licence, if you have a server with 4 Sockets (Sun V40z) you
just double the price.. If you need 32 licences for the blades (each with
max 2 sockets) you just take the ~£1500 and multiply it by 32 !!!!!
Now I really cant believe that some of the Very Very large VMWare installs
that I know of are buying the licences like this, Are they ???
If anyone that is using VMWare on a 5+ Servers in one setup, would you mind
telling the list or me off-list how you when about licensing for VMWare for
your install, and if there is any type of site licence or anything that
would help my keep the cost of this project down..

Best Regards
