OK, I took a look at /etc/dt/config/Xconfig and there is no
validPAMclasses entry. From searching the web, I see that there should
be a line that reads:
Dtlogin.validPAMclasses: SunRay
Is that right?
Yes, that's right. But don't just edit the Xconfig file. (See below.)
Of course, the real question is, why isn't it there and
what else is wrong. Looks like it's created by utgenpam. Did that not
run for some reason? This is just my home setup so I can uninstall and
re-install SRS if you think that is best.
That line should be put into /etc/dt/config/Xconfig.SUNWut.prototype
on the first reboot after SRSS is installed. From there it should get
copied into /etc/dt/config/Xconfig on every reboot or cold restart of
SRSS. (This is one of a number of things that happens on the first
reboot after installation. Most of those things shouldn't really be
tied to a reboot, that's a historical wart that we're slowly trying to
fix.) Have you rebooted the machine since you installed SRSS?
If you have rebooted then it would be interesting to know whether
your system has a /etc/dt/config/Xconfig.SUNWut.prototype file at
all, and if so what its contents are before you edit it to add the
missing line. It would also be interesting to know the last-modified
time on your /etc/pam.conf file, to see how that compares against
the last-reboot time shown by 'uptime'.
As an additional experiment if you're willing to do it, you could
reboot the system again and see whether it ends up with a correct
prototype file after the reboot.
