I have an old Sun Ray 1 that I plugged into our network. I am running Sun Ray Server 3.1 with 120880-06. The Sun Ray 1 has very old firmware--I get an hourglass icon when I power it on. It draws two lines under the hourglass indicating it started up and has a network connection. It is not getting an IP address. When I snoop the network for its MAC address I see repeated DHCP Discover requests. DHCP is handled by a Windows 2000 server on our net and has never been a problem before. I am wondering if the old firmware in this Sun Ray has to get its IP info directly from a Sun Ray Server since it probably expects a dedicated network?

Yes. If it is older than 2.0 firmware then it won't support DHCPINFORM request and it should get all the parameters from DHCPREQUEST. It will work if you provide
IP addresses from Sun Ray server.

I tried using utadm -A to add our network and have the SRS hand out the vendor specific info, but that didn't help.

Any ideas for getting this on the network and upgraded? Thanks. -Tom Stanley
